In the heart of the Sanctuary, opposite the Grotto, the Parvis Saint Bernadette welcomes you and invites you to take part in onsite experiences for groups, activities on the themes of mission, vocation, poverty and integral ecology. There are also on-site exhibitions for pilgrims passing through.
What is the Parvis Saint Bernadette?
The Parvis St Bernadette in Lourdes is a gathering place for youth ministry, a place of entertainment for day pilgrims and for pilgrimage groups. It is led by a dozen Church movements and services.
This is a newly created place for events, meetings and debates in the heart of the Sanctuary. Throughout the months of July and August, you can participate in times of meeting and prayer, exhibitions, vigils for young people, conferences, etc.
Led by volunteers who come for periods of one or maybe two weeks, with three or four volunteers for each period, but adapted where possible to everyone’s availability.
An opening on the life of the Church, to prolong the grace of Lourdes.

“The Parvis Saint Bernadette is open to the general public. Individual pilgrims usually come to the parvis just after they’ve been to the Grotto, explains Don Maxence, head of youth ministry at the Sanctuary, but when group leaders ask us to lead an event, we prefer that they come at the end of their pilgrimage to prepare for their return home”.
