The ‘chapelains’ and the working community of the Sanctuary are delighted to welcome Bishop Jean-Marc Micas, who has been appointed Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes.
This Wednesday 30th March, Pope Francis appointed Monsignor Jean-Marc Micas bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes, following the transfer of Monsignor Nicolas Brouwet to Nîmes.
Until now, Monsignor Jean-Marc Micas has been Provincial of France with the Society of Saint-Sulpice.
Mgr. Jean-Marc Micas was ordained a priest on 10th March 1991, in the Archdiocese of Toulouse, then became a priest with the Society of Saint-Sulpice on 6th June 1999.
Vicar of the parish of Saint Gaudens from 1991 to 1995, he was also diocesan chaplain of the Eucharistic Youth Movement (MEJ) from 1993 to 1998. Parish priest of Labège and Escalquens in 1995 and member of the diocesan vocations office in 1996, he was in charge of the diocesan vocations service between 1997 and 2000 and a member of the formation staff at the Saint-Cyprien regional seminary in Toulouse between 1999 and 2010.
A member of the College of Consultors and of the Presbyteral Council between 1999 and 2013, he was also responsible for the Regional Vocations Service from 2000 to 2013, member of the Diocesan Service for the formation of priests from 2006 to 2013 and Superior of the Saint-Cyprien Regional Seminary in 2007 to 2013.
From 2011 to 2013, he was secretary of the National Council of Major Seminaries and French Provincial of France with the Society of Saint-Sulpice in 2013.
